Responding to calls by Nigerian and Ugandan activists the Equality Network and ELREC will be taking part in an international day of action protesting these laws, we have called a protest demonstration to be held at The Mound in Edinburgh on Friday 7th March at noon.
As well as standing shoulder-to-shoulder with LGBT people who have been criminalised in Uganda, Nigeria and around the world we will be calling on the UK Government to take a stand for human rights, recall the High Commissioner to Uganda for consultations, and ensure UK aid is spent ensuring the maximum support for human rights while maintaining the current level of funding.
We ask that for LGBT people in Uganda, Nigeria and those around the world who face oppression, violence and imprisonment that you join us on the 7th. It is vital the LGBT people in Uganda and Nigeria are supported and these draconian law condemned.
