ROSS SUTHERLAND!
Ross Sutherland is a poet from Edinburgh and at First Editions he will be presenting new work!. His writing credits include: ten live literature productions (including Poetry Boyband, The Three Stigmata of Pacman and Standby For Tape Back-Up), an interactive play (Comedian Dies In The Middle of Joke), two documentaries, a social game (Hinterland) and the Imaginary Advice podcast. He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts. In January 2015 he was shortlisted for the Art Foundation award for Spoken Word. www.rosssutherland.co.uk
ULTRAS!
The moniker of Glasgow based multi-instrumentalist Gav Prentice - at once a solo project and broader collective of supporting musicians and producers. Formerly one half of the now defunct cult pop duo Over the Wall, Prentice describes ULTRAS as "violent pop for the patronised", moving towards noisier guitars and more abrasive rhythms while retaining OtW's euphoria and immediacy. ULTRAS recently released 'The Path To Getting Paid' as a postcard download single and are currently working on their multi-producer, hip-hop inspired first album.
HANNAH MCGILL!
Writer, Scotland On Sunday columnist, critic and short-story writer! Hannah McGill was a highlight at our November show in Glasgow and we’re delighted to have her in fair Edina with another set of new stories!
AMY DUNCAN!
Amy Duncan is a Scottish singer/songwriter based in Edinburgh. With her melodious acoustic sound and emotional songwriting infused with remarkable honesty, Amy has established herself as one of the brightest musical talents in Scotland.
Amy was chosen by Showcase Scotland as one of 2 Scottish acts to perform at the Eastern Canadian Music Alliance in April 2014 and was part of the Made In Scotland Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 and 2014. At First Editions, Amy will be performing songs from her new album 'Undercurrents' with Fiona Rutherford on harp and Lawrie Macmillan on bass.
ELLEN RENTON!
Ellen is a new voice on the Scottish spoken word scene. We met her during the BBC 1Xtra/ The Roundhouse ‘Words First’ project, where we were bowled over by her writing! She is a regular at many of Glasgow’s thriving open mic nights and we’re delighted to have her at Rally & Broad for a full set for First Editions!
